Future Elle here! The story I originally posted here, “Don’t Count Your Eggs,” has been removed because . . . drumroll please . . . it’s now available in an official anthology, Holiday Leftovers! More info soon.

I have another story for you! And this one isn’t late! 😀

Well . . . it kind of is. See, historically, our modern celebration of Easter comes from a conglomeration of religious and spring (and in particular, spring equinox) celebrations. Today the equinox celebration is known as Ostara, so that’s what you’ll see the folks in fairy-tale Belville celebrating (if you read the story, that is!). It has many things in common with the familiar Easter — colorful eggs, flowers, themes of rebirth and growth — but technically it would have been observed back on March 20th this year. Ergo, my fantasy “Easter” is actually a little late. So truthfully, we’re right on par for my usual schedule! 🙂

This story, “Don’t Count Your Eggs,” is a light-hearted adventure full of egg hunting, sugar, and the importance of a good night’s sleep. I’ve thrown it together a bit last-minute because I really wanted to share it as a way to celebrate this weekend with everyone — not only because of Easter, but because of my birthday! I hope this story brings a little extra laughter and happiness into your spring. Enjoy!
